National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare Endorses Critz
Lauds Congressman’s record of fighting for seniors
Congressman Mark Critz today announced that he received the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) in the race for the 12th Congressional District. Critz has been a champion of issues affecting senior citizens - opposing cuts to benefits and fighting efforts to privatize Social Security or turn Medicare into a voucher program. Critz opposed the Republican Balanced Budget Amendment that would have led to massive cuts in Social Security and Medicare while Altmire voted for it.
“Protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare has been a top priority for me in Congress and this endorsement demonstrates that I am the only candidate in this race who is fully committed to protecting these benefits for seniors and future generations,” Critz said “I will continue to stand up to those in Congress who would destroy these vital programs through risky schemes like privatization and gimmicky constitutional amendments."
In a letter to Critz notifying him of the organization’s endorsement, NCPSSM President Max Richtman wrote, “Our nation needs your leadership, vision and determination to fight for working families and older Americans. You earned the endorsement of the National Committee because you understand and support the critical roles that Social Security and Medicare play in the retirement and health security of our nation’s older citizens and their families. You are well prepared to serve the needs of seniors and make the preservation of Social Security and Medicare a priority in office.”
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) was founded in 1982 by former Congressman James Roosevelt, son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt who signed the Social Security Act into law. The organization has 167,047 members and supporters in Pennsylvania.
