Creating Jobs

Mark’s top priority in Congress will be fixing the economy and creating jobs.  For too long, Wall Street and the big banks have been bailed out while hardworking Western Pennsylvanians continue to struggle and lose their jobs.

Mark has plan that will protect existing jobs and create new ones.  This is Mark’s plan for job creation in Western Pennsylvania:

End tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas

In Congress, Mark will work to protect jobs in Western Pennsylvania by fighting to eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.  At a time when factories are laying off workers and, in some cases, closing down completely, Mark believes it is wrong to reward corporations for laying off Americans workers, while opening new plants in countries like China and Mexico.

Fight for trade deals that protect American jobs and increase exports

Mark knows the American worker can compete with workers from any nation in the world if there is a level playing field.  In Congress, Mark will put Western Pennsylvania’s workers first by supporting trade deals that create new jobs and work to reform trade deals like NAFTA that send jobs overseas.  Mark will oppose any trade deal that is unfair to the American worker and endangers jobs.  He will insist that all trade deals include language for fair wage and environmental standards so American companies can compete and increase their exports.

Provide tax credits to small businesses that create new high-paying jobs

Mark knows that small businesses are the real engine of the American economy. That is why he supports tax breaks for small businesses that create jobs that pay their workers at least the average wage.

Improve schools and provide training so workers can compete

As a native of Western Pennsylvania, Mark knows that people want to work.  That is why he is committed to ensuring that people have the tools to take advantage of the new energy and high tech jobs of the future.  Mark believes Congress needs to provide the resources so every student and every worker will be prepared to take advantage of job opportunities in the new economy.

More tax cuts for the middle class, not the wealthy

Mark believes the middle class needs assistance in these difficult economic times.  In Congress, Mark will fight for tax cuts for the middle class – not the wealthy – in order to grow our local economy. Mark believes that by easing the tax burden on working families and increasing their buying power, jobs will be created as the demand for goods and services increases.
